The workbench
Three working studies: a moving object, a living shell, and a gallery.
PROJECTS / THE WORKBENCH
These are the studies currently built into Trove. They describe this place,
not a portfolio of client work or a history of finished commissions.
01 AN OBJECT MADE OF TEXT
Light and depth become a grid of characters. Each fresh session chooses
an opening model at random from seven forms. Rotation makes a flat
screen feel like a small window into space.
With automatic changes enabled, /home selects a house and gallery
folders select a camera. Choose a model yourself to keep it until a
fresh session or until you re-enable automatic changes in Display.
Try: ocean models
ocean speed 0.5
02 A ROOM INSIDE THE BROWSER
The terminal runs a real 32-bit Alpine Linux guest through v86. Bash,
nano, processes, pipelines, and packages work inside its temporary memory.
A second visitor gets a different machine. A fresh session starts clean.
Try: printf 'light\nwater\nsignal\n' | sort
mkdir -p ~/scratch
nano ~/scratch/note.txt
03 A COLLECTION WITH A SHELL SCRIPT
Each gallery is a folder of images and a small JSON manifest. Its show.sh
script asks the surrounding display to open that manifest. A collection
can be copied, edited, and run again without leaving the shell.
Try: bash /site/galleries/orbital/show.sh
These pieces are a starting vocabulary. Future work can grow here without
needing to turn every experiment into a finished product. For now, the useful
thing is a place to make a change, observe it, and begin again.
