Puzzle hints
Open one note at a time. The final note gives the answer.
The puzzle unlocks the root account inside your temporary terminal. Every page and gallery is already available in this reader.
1. The carrier
01 / THE CARRIER The last light stays on the water after the sun has gone. Its name is the key, carried on a signal half an alphabet away: ROT13: nsgretybj Turn each letter thirteen places. Keep going from A after Z. Case does not matter; punctuation stays still. The decoded word is your guest password. Need a hand with the dial? cat ~/clues/02-rotation.txtRead the raw text file
2. Rotate the alphabet
02 / ROTATE THE ALPHABET ROT13 replaces A with N, B with O, and so on. Applying it twice returns the original letters. Our signal has nine letters: nsgretybj Let the shell turn the dial: printf '%s\n' nsgretybj | tr 'A-Za-z' 'N-ZA-Mn-za-m' Use the decoded word when sudo asks for guest's password. Password input is hidden in a Unix terminal; the lack of dots or stars is normal. sudo su Want the answer directly? cat ~/clues/03-open-door.txtRead the raw text file
3. Open the door
03 / OPEN THE DOOR The answer is afterglow. This is a public puzzle answer for a temporary browser machine. Type: sudo su At the password prompt, type afterglow and press Enter. Characters will not appear as you type. A root prompt ends with #. You can then open /site: cd /site nano pages/about.txt bash galleries/sunset/show.sh Use Ctrl+O, Enter to save a page, and Ctrl+X to exit nano. The editor buttons on a phone send those same keys. Nothing you change here is published; starting a fresh session restores the original files and guest privileges. The public content reader in the website menus opens the same published pages and galleries directly, with no password or terminal required.Read the raw text file
